Dr. IdopiseAbasi Ekpe Asuquo serves as a Lecturer I in the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the Faculty of Agriculture at Akwa Ibom State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Fisheries and Hydrobiology, specializing in Aquatic Environmental Management, and his work centers on fisheries biology, hydrobiology, fish ecology, aquaculture management, and aquatic toxicology. Dr. Asuquo has taught more than 30 undergraduate courses and held key roles such as SIWES Coordinator, Seminar Coordinator, Project Coordinator, and Academic Adviser.
He contributes to NUC accreditation, quality assurance, undergraduate supervision, and departmental committees on library, welfare, and commercial farm management. His research covers fish toxicity, reproductive biology of endangered species, trophic ecology, water quality, heavy metal bioaccumulation, and physico-chemical changes in Niger Delta waterways. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications, he has advanced studies on climate change effects in fisheries and hydrobiology. Dr. Asuquo belongs to professional organizations like FISON, AASN, and NES, promoting sustainable fisheries, environmental conservation, and training in Nigeria and internationally.
He is married to Gwen, a renowned Fisheries Hydrobiologist, and they have three children: Eliana, Ethan, and Eleora; he also serves as an ordained pastor at churches including Dunamis International Gospel Center, Insight Bible Church, and Priesthood Global Mission International in Uyo.
