Dr. Ubong Uwem George is a Lecturer in the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture at Akwa Ibom State University. He holds a Ph.D degree in Environmental Pollution and Toxicology and Masters degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. Also, Dr. George holds a Bachelors degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture from the University of Calabar, Calabar.

As a Senior Lecturer, I carry out activities to develop my scholarly research and professional activities, both nationally /internationally and contribute significantly to achieving the teaching, research and administrative service missions of the University and Faculty.

I have taught the following courses during the duration of my job: Climatology and General Oceanography, Fish Parasites and Diseases, Aquatic Flora and Fauna of Hydrobiology, Fish Ecology and Zoogeography, Fisheries Limnology, Fish Biology, Introduction to Aquaculture, Fisheries Oceanography, Fish Adaptation and Physiology, Oceanographic Techniques, Aquatic Environmental Survey, Ornamental Fisheries and Aquaria Design, Fisheries Survey and Biostatistics, Fish Processing and Marketing, Water Quality Management and Pollution Control and Fish Policy and Legislation.

My research interest includes, pollution studies in aquatic ecosystem, microplastic and microplastic pollution, heavy metal pollution and Ecotoxicological studies.

My Administrative Duties include; Departmental Time Table Coordinator, Departmental Course Distribution Coordinator, Departmental Seminar Coordinator, Student Academic Adviser and Departmental Examination Officer and currently the Head of Department.

I have attended several conferences and workshops both Nationally and internationally. Also, I have published over 108 scholarly articles both in Local and international Journals.

I have supervised over 12 undergraduates students and one M.Sc Student.

Beyond the university environment, I participate in community Extension Services by offering technical trainings to fish farmers on water quality management and best techniques in improving water quality. I have engaged in several Environmental Impacts Assessment Projects. Above all I am a committed and dedicated member of the United Evangelical Church (UEC).
